Festival our Big Brothers Big Sisters, Couple and School Base Mentors of the
Year were announced!
BIG SISTER OF THE YEAR - Cherie
Zemljak matched with (Little Sister) Jade
Cherie and Jade have had a successful
match for seven years. Their match began in June, 2007. Cherie has supported Jade when she was nervous about going to
middle school and is now helping Jade in her journey as she begins her Freshman
Year at Butte High School. Cherie has proven to really care for Jade and has made herself available to Jade whenever she needs her.
BIG BROTHER OF THE YEAR - Kevin
Hodge matched with Chance (Little Brother)
and Chance began their match in November, 2011, when Chance was in the fifth
grade. Their match has been very consistent from the beginning. Kevin
remains steadfast in his commitment to Chance and has gone above and beyond
what was asked of him as a Big Brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program
in giving of his time and talents.
BIG COUPLE OF THE YEAR - Larry and Sheryl Mayo matched with Alexander (Little Brother)
and Sheryl’s match with Alexander began in September, 2012. They have
involved Alex in their church activities and have exposed him to numerous life
experiences. Larry and Sheryl enjoy taking Alex on short trips and eating
out. Their time together is enjoyable and fruitful for both
parties. They have enjoyed watching Alex as he has grown and
matured. Larry and Sheryl will continue to help Alex to expand his
horizons in the future.
Adult School Based MENTOR OF THE YEAR: Judy Mohan
has been Involved in School Based Mentoring with Big Brothers Big Sisters since
October 2010 at the Margaret Leary School. She has helped the two
children that she mentored, named Adam and Katarina, to find improved enjoyment
in school and among their peers. She has been an outstanding role model
who has made the commitment to her mentees so they have more options and the
ability to make better choices.
